The RDA survey for the construction of a 28-km-long Ring Road in the city is likely to be completed within a month. The survey has been conducted by a Rawalpindi Development Authority (RDA) whereas the alignment of the road would be finalised soon, said the spokesman for Tehsil Municipal Administration, Qazi Atta-ur-Rehman, while talking to APP here on Sunday. Briefing about the plan, he said that the Ring Road would start from Rawat to Haji Camp on Peshawar Road connecting suburbs of Adiala, Chakri, and Chauntra.

Besides, it would also have interchanges at an interval of 1.5-km to 2-km to connect adjacent areas and through the Ring Road traffic would be diverted to Pirwadhi Road and Islamabad Highway, while hand-pushed animal puhed-carts and certain other categories of vehicles would not be allowed to use the road, he added.

The spokesman said the time-frame and cost of the mega project could be determined after the completion of survey work.

He said the local government determined to bring a meaningful change in the life of people through spreading a vast network of development schemes, enabling them towards quality life.

A large number of people belonging to different walks of life hailed the construction of Ring Road which may provide a boost to the estate business as a number of housing societies are situated in this area.
